John Mark Cappleman, MD Dr. Cappleman was born and raised here in Winter Garden.  He was in the first graduating class at West Orange High School.  After this he attended the University of the South in Sewanee TN.  From there it was on to medical school at the University of South Florida in Tampa, then residency in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia.  Upon finishing his residency Dr. Cappleman became board certified in Internal Medicine, later completing the requirements to become board certified also in Geriatrics.  He has also been named a fellow of the American College of Physicians, an honor in part related to nomination by other doctors.

Our office has been involved with numerous clinical trials published several papers in prestigious journals related to this work.

 

Dr. Cappleman and his wife Kay live in Winter Garden. They have three children, Sarah, an OB/GYN physician at the University of Florida, Sam, a civil engineer in Knoxville, TN and Matt, a software engineer in Orlando.

 

In addition to his work he enjoys being active in his church, the Boy Scouts of America and the governance of Health Central Hospital.

Karen Jones, ARNP, Karen is a longtime resident of Southwest Orange County.  Born in Racine Wisconsin, she married and relocated to Virginia and South Carolina.  She completed her undergraduate Nursing Program at the Medical University of South Carolina and Nurse Practitioner Masters of Nursing program at the University
of Florida.

She is active in the community serving on the Board of Edgewood Children’s Ranch, volunteering at Shepherds Hope Health Care Clinic and St Luke’s United Methodist Church. She is married to Jeff and has two sons Christopher and Matthew, who reside locally.

 

In her personal time she enjoys piano, water sports, gardening, golf and tennis.

Karen joined Cappleman Medical Group in 1998.  She has been actively involved in multiple landmark clinical trials in Diabetes, Hypertension, Hypercholesterolemia, Irritable Bowel syndrome and Infectious Diseases.

Vici Cox, RN, Vici is a registered nurse originally born an raised in Detroit Michigan.  She graduated from St Anthony’s school of nursing in 1981.  She then moved to Oviedo Florida where she still resides.  In her spare time Vici loves doting on her children.  She also either participates in, or watches almost all sporting events.  She and her husband Gregg have a son and daughter who are both on active duty in the
US Army.

Virnnett Fleming, Virnnett has been employed by Dr. Cappleman almost his whole career.   She began as a receptionist in 1989 and has risen to become one of the most skilled medical office managers in the area. She has been instrumental in the success of our enterprise. 

 

Virnnett is a lifelong resident of West Orange County.  She has two children, Brent and Rachael who reside in the area.
